Feuerlösch-/Feuerschutzpolizei collection

Feuerwehr, Feuerlöschpolizei, Feuerschutzpolizei collection:

German Feuerwehrmann service tunic, in use by the Freiwillige- or Berufsfeuerwehr. Era around 1910-1935. Pipped in carmine red at he collar and front. The jacket is closed by 8 flat chromed buttons. Collar tabs are omitted. Normally there were red ones (Freiwillige) and black ones (Berufs). The removable shoulder boards feature dual, outer edge, bright, silver/aluminum Russian braid with evenly spaced, interwoven "V"s of carmine wool. Included are a pair of dark blue (looks brighter in the picture), carmine red pipped wool/rayon blend construction long pants.

German Oberfeuerwehrmann parade tunic of the Feuerlöschpolizei. Made with eight flat chromed buttons. The collar has got dual hook&eyes for closure. The collar, upperside of the French cuffs and the front side are pipped in carmine red “Truppenfarbe”. The reverse of the lay down collar has the typical zig-zag reinforcement stitching. It features machine woven collar tabs with a carmine rayon base with interwoven, bright, silver/aluminum flat-wire litzen. The carmine base shows through as the branch of service and center stripes. The collar tab bases are machine stitched to the collar. The “Dienstgradabzeichen”, shoulder boards are sewn on (they were introduced along with new uniforms in July 1936). The shoulder boards feature dual, outer edge, bright, silver/aluminum Russian braid with evenly spaced, interwoven black "V"s, encompassing dual, inner, black braids mounted on a carmine wool “Truppenfarbe” bases. An Oberfeuerwehrmann had one star attached to the base. The shoulder board retaining buttons (pebbled ones) are intact. On the inside on the lining is a “schneider Etikett” from Linnenbrügger& Ellermann of Bielefeld. Note the absence of the Polizei Ärmelabzeichen, because this jacket was used from 1938 till the early ‘50ies by the original owner. This was relatively common during the early stages of the “Nachkriegszeit”. Also included are a pair of extremely dark blue (looks brighter in the picture), carmine red pipped wool/rayon blend construction long pants.

German Feuerwehrmann service tunic of the Feuerlöschpolizei. Made with eight flat chromed buttons. The collar has got dual hook&eyes for closure. The collar, upperside of the French cuffs and the front side are not pipped in carmine red “Truppenfarbe” as was normally per regulation. The reverse of the lay down collar has the typical zig-zag reinforcement stitching. It features machine woven collar tabs with a carmine rayon base with interwoven, bright, silver/aluminum flat-wire litzen. The carmine base shows through as the branch of service and center stripes. The collar tab bases are hand stitched to the collar. The shoulder board retaining buttons are the early flat onesand one seems to be a little bigger than the other one. The Polizei Ärmelabzeichen on the upper left sleeve has a machine embroidered, wreathed, police style national eagle with out-stretched wings, clutching a wreathed, canted, swastika in it’s talons, situated beneath the Gothic scripted, duty location, "Eltville/Rhein". Embroided in carmine Truppenfarben rayon threads, mounted on a navy blue wool base, cut-out. The police eagle base is hand stitched to the sleeve. Of Note: Originally the police sleeve eagles worn by Mannschaften and NCO’s included the name of the location where they were stationed but regulations of November 10. 1941 abolished the name for all Freiwillige- and Pflichtfeuerwehren. Included are a pair of black, carmine red pipped wool construction long pants. This pair is guaranteed genuine WWII.

German Oberfeuerwehrmann parade tunic of the Werkfeuerwehr (Factory fire dept.). Made with eight pebled chromed buttons. The collar tab bases are nicely hand-stitched to the collar. The Polizei Ärmelabzeichen on the upper left sleeve has a machine embroidered, wreathed, police style national eagle with out-stretched wings, clutching a wreathed, canted, swastika in it’s talons, situated beneath the Gothic scripted Werkfeuerwehr. Embroided in carmine Truppenfarben rayon threads, mounted on a navy blue wool base, cut-out. The police eagle base is hand stitched to the sleeve. Unfortunately no pants in my posession at this moment.

German "Feuerwehrbeil" axe, with a leather protection cover. Inside there was a small pouch to hold a "Notnagel" (heavy nail with an eye for use with a rope for an emergency-abseiling). On top, a buckle to attach to a firemans' belt. this type was used well beyond WWII. (Part of the second uniform).

German belt buckle with a "cartouche" wich is soldered on the base of the buckle. Inscription says: "Gott zur Ehr, dem nächsten zur Wehr". Material is steel with a nickle finish. This buckles where produced around 1970-now. Other pre-WWII variations also exist but displayed only an inscription and a bigger firemans helmet.

German ~1920-40ies firemans belt with two buckles. Made out of natural brown leather. the large "karabinerhaken" is not only used for abseiling, but was also handy when transporting hoses over a distance. No stamps whatsoever found. (Part of the first uniform).

German firemans belt with one big buckle. Made out of black leather. This one has also the large "karabinerhaken". Stamped with DRGM (Deutsches Reichs Gebrauchs Muster) and 1940. (Part of the second uniform).

German Feuerwehrseitengewehr (fire depts. bayonet). This was actually not a real bayonet because you can't fix it at a rifle. This one is made by E. Pack & Sohne, Solingen. Unfortunately the scabbard is missing. Until the early 50ies it was granted to wear the bayonet. (part of the second uniform).

German Feuerwehrseitengewehr, made by? This one has got a scabbard but no leather frog. Unfortunately in not so good condition. (Part of the third uniform).

German Feuerwehrseitengewehr, made by PUMA in Solingen. This one has got a wrong scabbard, wich is in fact a M1935 Turkish one I presume. Note the zinc corrosion at the hilt, wich is called "Zinkfrass" in German. I've seen other latewar examples with heavy cracks wich litterally let the hilt fell apart due to this corrosion.

German Feuerwehrstiefel, made by the exact specifications of those used by the Wehrmacht. Only difference are the leather pullingtabs and the omission of hobnails.

German "Freiwillige Feuerwehr Schirmmütze für Mannschaften undUnteroffiziere", peaked cap for common rank and file. The cap is made by Hut-Hösler from Zwickau. The Adler is of the second type and was worn from 1939-1945.

German "Freiwillige Feuerwehr Schirmmütze für Offiziere", peaked cap for officers. The cap is made by an unknown manufacturer (H in a cricle). The chinstrap is entirely made out of silver woven braid. Early types (1934-1936) had carmine red woven trough the silver. The Adler is made out of aluminium and is of the second type. This cap was worn from 1939-1945.

Hey Marloes,
